Claire Thompson is one of the most skilled defensive defensemen in the PWHL and a cornerstone of the Canadian national team program. Growing up in Ottawa, she developed her game in the Ontario Hockey Federation before attending Minnesota, where she became one of the most decorated players in program history.
With Team Canada she has won multiple IIHF Women's World Championship medals and an Olympic gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Games. In the PWHL she has been one of the most reliable two-way players in the league since its inaugural season.
Thompson represents the next generation of Canadian defensive excellence — a player who can shut down opponents, move the puck efficiently, and contribute to special teams at both ends of the ice.
